Analytics

Summary

We use minimal first-party Google Analytics 4 tools in order to improve the experience that we offer. None of the information we collect is personal.

Details

Every information we track using Google Analytics is in aggregate/statistical form. We can't know anything about you specifically. We track country and city data about our visitors, but we do not track gender, age group, interests or other data about them. We also track information about the behavior of our visitors: how they found us, the pages they visit and the buttons they click, again, only in aggregate form.

These cookies are first-party, not third-party. That means that no other can have access to them, besides this domain. Also, this means that, since we do not keep or share these cookies with anyone, it is not possible that this data (combined with other data or not) could determine someone's identity.

The cookies imposed by Google Analytics are:

  • _ga_#: Used to distinguish individual users by means of designation of a randomly generated number as client identifier, which allows calculation of visits and sessions
  • _ga: It records a particular ID used to come up with data about website usage by the user. It is a HTTP cookie that expires after 2 years.

The full policy & cookie policy is maintained by Google and you can find it here (Google's privacy policy for partners) and here (Cookie usage on websites).

Finally, we use Google Firebase in order to authenticate users and store their songs, so Firebase may also store cookies or other pieces of data in your browser to server these functions (and, for example, not have you sign in every time). For more information about this, read below.

You can find all this data under in your Browser's Developer Tools, in the Application or Storage tab.

Our custom cookies & other things we collect when you use ChordPage

Functional data

The application stores bits of information in the Application or Storage tab. Everything under "Local Storage" and "Session Storage" is kept in your browser only, and we do not know this information. Your browser uses these variables, in order to run the application correctly, according to your preferences (e.g. "dark mode"). This data is not considered personal in any way.

Other data

We do not store other data in your browser or device, and we do not have any access on any other information on your device. Also, we do not gather other any data from you, unless you use an account. If you use an account, read the following.

Information we collect when you sign in and use an account

The authentication is implemented using Google Firebase which is the Data Processor of ChordPage. The only thing we have access to is your e-mail address. The application uses it only to associate your songs with you (because otherwise, how would the application know what songs belong to you?). Firebase (that handles the authentication) may store or show your name and/or your profile picture to you, but we do not have regular access to them. We may obtain access only if there is a specific reason (for example, in order to upgrade a user account, block a user etc.). We do not share this personal info (email, name or other info) with anyone. More information on Firebase's privacy policy here.

When you "save" a song, the application stores your song content (name, artists and chord structure) and your song preferences (font size and alignment), along with a timestamp. If you enter any personal or other private/confidential information in the song content, that is only your responsibility and it is opposed to the application's terms of service. The application uses the Firestore database to store and retrieve your songs.

How to delete cookies

Every browser is different. If you are in Google Chrome, for example, click the padlock on the left of the URL and then click "Cookies". Select the cookie or the item that you want to delete and click "Remove". If you use another browser, check your browser's documentation about this topic.
